A Munro is the name given to a mountain in Scotland which is over 3000 feet in height. The name comes from Sir Hugh Munro, who first listed them in his tables published in 1891. There are 282 Munros at the most recent count.
Munro-bagging is a very popular pastime in Scotland, where keen walkers try to climb every peak on the list. It is not an easy task but plenty of people manage to "compleat" the set (spelling is correct!).
